On Thursday, October 20th, the Society of Innovators held their 7th Annual induction ceremony at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.
The Center of Workforce Innovations was pleased to be part of that ceremony having nominated two of the inductees for 2011-2012. The first “Fellow” inductee was Angela Hambling, principal at Rolling Prairie Elementary School. Hambling raised her school to “exemplary” status by developing an off-site activities center that produced raised educational outcomes for over 100 underserved, predominately minority students in a mobile home community. The other “Fellow” was Congressman Peter J. Visclosky, who was recognized for his role in launching the Marquette Project back in 19985, with the goal of reclaiming at least 75% of the lakeshore for public use. Through investments by local community and the RDA, that project continues to enhance and transform our lakefront.
In addition, the Society presents an award for outstanding achievement for innovation and service each year. This prestigious award is called the Gerald I. Lamkin Fellow Award and was presented to Congressman Visclosky.
